1914 Fredrick August Cross 2nd Class Combatant - Oldenburg
From the Grand Duchy Of Oldenburg. This is Oldenburg's equivalent to the Prussian Iron Cross 2nd Class. When putting together the Iron Cross Equivalents to the various Duchies this particular one is my favorite. The stamp is of a real high relief and the cross is painted black. Friedrich August Cross 1st Class Oldenburg
The Duchy of Oldenburg awarded the Friedrich August Cross as their Iron Cross 1st Class. A member of the armed forces from Oldenburg who was awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class would also be awarded the Friedrich August Cross 1st Class. This award is vaulted and made of brass. It was painted black and over time the black paint became dull and the high areas wore. This gave medal the appearance of having brass accents. This example is without a makers make the hinge, clasp and coke bottle shaped pin are solid and 100% functional. Excellent
