Imperial & WW 1 Badges & Medals 2
Cased 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class & Kaiser Wilhelm I Centennial Medal Set
Red leatherette case is free from any scuffs, tears or nicks. The upper and lower surfaces of the case do have a couple minor stains, which only add a bit of character to this attractive medal set. The hinges, latch and catch are complete 100% solid and totally functional. The white satin underside of the case top is free from stains or damage. A Black, White and Red accent ribbon runs diagonally across the underside. These ribbons were often used to hold extra ribbon, a photos or folded award documents. The grey flocked base is also free from damage or stains and is laid out so the Iron Cross and Centennial Medal each have a fitted recessed area for the awards and a tray like area for the ribbons. The Iron Cross ribbon is original to the set but the yellow ribbon is a replacement since the original was lost to time. The Kaiser Wilhelm I Centennial Medal has signs of wear to the high areas and the only gilding remaining is in-between the letters on the medals front and back. The magnetic cored Iron Cross is ring marked "Z" the paint is close to 95% and the silver frame has taken on a nice uniform patina. A very nice cased medal set at a very reasonable price. Very Good +
