Cased Commemorative Medal Of 13 March 1938

    Light scuff on the top leatherette case at the upper corner, with a number of black spots on the same surface.  The interior white satin fabric is clean without damage and covers the hinge, the red flocked base is free from any damage or stains, hinge, button and catch are solid and functional.  The medal is mint and complete with the correct pin sewn to the upper obverse ribbon.  A "common cased medal of un-common condition."    Excellent -

T. R. WW II Wound Badges

Were awarded in (3) grades or types, Black, Silver and  Gold ( aka Gilt ).  The first grade or Black was awarded for being wounded once or twice.  The Silver grade was awarded for being wounded three or four times. Finally the Gold grade was awarded for being for being wounded five or more times     ( ouch ) !  There were exceptions to the actual number of wounds that were based on the severity of the wound.  The Silver grade could be awarded for being wounded once if the wound involved the loss of a hand, foot or eye, or if it resulted in near total deafness.  The Gold could be awarded for one wound if it resulted in total disablement or permanent blindness.  Ref, Orders, Decorations, Medals and Badges of the Third Reich by Littlejohn and Dodkins.
